“Black Rhino/RacerX Sponsored Athlete Bryan Osborn Earns a Solid 2nd Place Podium Finish at Lake Elsinore”
El Cajon, CA, October 13, 2015– Black Rhino Performance/Racer X Motorsports sponsored athlete Bryan Osborn made the decision to race his #54 Prolite this past weekend in the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series – SoCal at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. “When Bryan said he wanted to go to the LORORS SoCal 5 days before we had to leave, I have to admit I was not expecting much more than turning laps and burning race gas at $11.00 per gallon” Bryan’s dad, Kenny Osborn said.
Bryan Osborn had not raced the #54 Prolite since September of 2014; it had worn out tires and needed a lot of work. The father/son duo put in some late nights getting it ready for the weekend.
Friday’s practice went well with Bryan driving like he hadn’t taken any time off; smooth and consistent. Saturday, Bryan qualified 5th and with a 6 inversion it put him outside on the front row in the prime spot for Round 7. Unfortunately, due to having old and bald tires, when the green flag dropped most of the pack drove past him. Bryan spent the rest of the race working his way back up through the pack to battle for 3rd, ultimately finishing 4th.
On Sunday, Bryan qualified 3rd for the Shootout. With the inversion, this again put him on the outside row 1. Bryan really felt good in the truck so he left the track in search of new tires. Unfortunately, he could not find any but quickly came up with a backup plan. He had 1 new Cooper Tire left over from last season so he made the call to put it on the right rear and used his tire groover to salvage what he could on the left rear. Kenny Frost helped with a few front end adjustments Bryan wanted and the #54 was ready for the Main.
This time when the green flagged dropped for the main it was a different story; Bryan got the jump and led the first 3 laps only giving up one position and finishing with a solid 2nd place podium finish in the Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series 2015 Shootout!
Kenny continued, “I personally learned a lot from my 19 year old son this weekend. First off, he does know more about his race truck than I do and I need to keep my mouth shut long enough to hear what he is telling me to do to it. Although it was not easy mentally or physically for me; it was fun just being one of the guys on Bryan’s crew, doing what I’m told like the rest of his guys and then seeing the results HE turns it into.”
“For the first time back in the truck in a year it was amazing! All in all it was just a super fun race and bringing home the second was a bonus! Crazy that I’ve had these Cooper Tires for 3 races now and the tires still survived the brutal punishment I put them through!
