“Black Rhino Sponsored Athlete Darren ‘HotSauce’ Hardesty Jr. Scores Two Podium Finishes in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series’ Rounds 5 & 6”

El Cajon, CA, June 1, 2016– The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Rounds 5 & 6 took place May 21st & 22nd at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, UT. Black Rhino sponsored athlete Darren ‘HotSauce’ Hardesty Jr. was there to mix it up in his #99 Pro Buggy! Tooele is one of Hardesty Jr.’s favorite venues, picking up his first pro win at the track.

On Saturday, qualifying for Round 5 was rained out which put the #99 at the back of the pack starting in 9th position next to Elliot Watson. ‘HotSauce’ was able to drive the #99 to the front, make a last lap pass and overtake third position before the checkered flag putting him on podium with a third place finish.

In Sunday’s qualifying for Round 6, Hardesty Jr. and his #99 Pro Buggy qualified 3rd putting them on the outside of row 2 with the inversion. ‘HotSauce’ made his way to 2nd by lap 2 putting pressure on Mike Valentine in 1st.  It was a close race and every effort was made to get past Valentine and take the lead.  At the end Hardesty Jr. was multitasking; protecting his position while trying to make a pass for the lead.  Hardesty Jr. drove a smart race and ended up in the runner up position and scored another podium, forth of the season!

“On Sunday I got what felt like my best start of the season,” said ‘HotSauce’, “The Lucas Oil track crew did a great job getting the track in shape after there were standing puddles on Saturday morning. I got right out into third and moved into second on the next lap. I worked on the leader but he was doing a good job of protecting his line. We finished second place giving us great points for the weekend. We did what we had to do and hope to keep the momentum going in Mexico; we can’t wait for rounds 7 and 8.Thank You for all your support, we couldn’t do it without you!”
