“Black Rhino Performance Sponsored Athlete Mia Chapman Graduates to SXS Racing”

El Cajon, CA, June 18, 2019 – Red Bull Racing driver and Black Rhino Performance sponsored athlete Mia Chapman competed in the first two races of the 2019 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series after graduating to full-size SXS racing from the series’ Mod Kart division. The 16-year-old Chapman is competing in a Textron Wildcat XX in the Production Class.

Though bad luck sidelined her early in the first two races of the season, Chapman is already getting comfortable in the new class. She set times in the top 10 in qualifying at both races before bad luck struck during the races.

“It’s super competitive in the SXS class,” explained Chapman. “There are so many people and I’m the youngest driver in the class. It’s been difficult to go from a mod kart to a SXS, but it’s also been fun because I like to learn and I enjoy new challenges.”

Those new challenges also include a brand new car from Textron. While other manufacturers have dominated the series in year’s past, Textron’s Wildcat has proven to be an excellent platform. Xtreme Machine & Fabrication built the car for Chapman and Jimmy Owen is providing Chapman driver coaching this season.

“In the Production class, you only see two other manufacturers so we decided to try something different and it’s going great,” said Chapman. “We didn’t have much time in the off-season and we only had two test days. Once we got it all figured out, we’re doing pretty well. So far our race results haven’t shown it, but we’re gaining a lot of experience, and the seat time is helping me a lot.”

After a crash in the last race, the team elected to take a break from the next event to fully prepare for LOORRS’ premier event at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. The purpose-built facility is the crown jewel of short course racing and is the longest and most challenging track the series visits.

“This is my first year and we’re not really in contention for points so we decided to take some time to get the car dialed in,” said Chapman. “We’re going to make it better and pick it up at Wheatland. I really like that track. It’s a one-of-a-kind venue and I’m really excited.”

Chapman will be back in action and ready to step it up at Wheatland LOORRS on June 29-30.
